Kyle Sandilands has revealed the mystery woman who will join him on the microphone of his new $99-a-year podcast after their chemistry was teased as “off the charts”.

The announcement comes after the spectacular collapse of Kyle’s decades-long on-air partnership with Jackie O Henderson, which left many wondering whether anyone would ever again take the seat beside him on his daily “uncensored” four-hour podcast.

Kyle had previously insisted he “would never do the show with anyone else again”, but on Friday unveiled journalist Mary Madigan as part of the on-air team for Kyle Sandilands Live, which launches on August 10.

“I’m excited and nervous to work with my unlikely best friend, Kyle,” Mary told Yahoo Lifestyle.

“It’s obviously going to be a big adventure, and I’m ready to learn a lot.”

While making it clear she isn’t replacing Jackie, Kyle said she was “all-round great chick” and explained the show’s hierarchy in typically blunt fashion.

“I will present the show, and Mary will be like the second tier, and there will also be the ensemble cast as well, so there will be a lot of voices,” Kyle said in a video announcing her appointment on Friday.

Who is Mary Madigan?

Mary will already be familiar to many KISS FM listeners, having made regular appearances on the Kyle and Jackie O Show before it was axed by Australian Radio Network (ARN).

“When I used to go on the show it used to be the highlight of my week,” Mary said.

The journalist is a prominent writer for news.com.au, where she has extensively covered the breakdown of the Kyle and Jackie O Show and the pair’s legal dispute with ARN.

She is also a regular commentator on Channel Seven’s The Morning Show and fronts her own interview series, Mary Wants To Know.

Yahoo Lifestyle understands she will continue writing for News Corp alongside the new role.

Kyle said Mary would be presenting the news and gossip, touting her “electric” vibe.

Kyle’s long-time manager Bruno Bouchet had previously teased Mary’s appointment while revealing the details of the new platform.

“I can’t let the cat out of the bag about who the newsreader is going to be – a fantastic female talent who I’m so pumped for her and Kyle to be riffing and do the show together,” he told Game Changers.

“I think the chemistry is just off the charts between the two of them.”

What is the format of Kyle Sandilands Live going to be?

Kyle said the podcast would be very similar to the show he presented on his final week at KISS FM “when Jackie wasn’t on”, while Bruno claimed it would be “as crazy and outrageous as possible”.

“We’ll still have the different stories, but you’ll probably hear more of the ensemble cast, no ads, no censorship, but we’ll still be playing songs, and you’ll be able to watch it,” Kyle told Game Changers.

Bruno said the podcast would resemble a live breakfast radio show, but without the restrictions of commercial radio.

“Instead of taking traditional calls like you would through mobiles and landlines, it’s all video calls and I think it’s going to be a fair bit of fun,” Bruno said.

Up-front cost to listen to Kyle Sandilands Live

At this stage, listeners won’t be given an option to pay for a month-by-month subscription, instead having to stump up $99 for the year.

The launch comes after the messy breakdown of Kyle and Jackie O’s record-breaking $200 million, 10-year ARN contract.

Kyle has since settled his legal dispute with the broadcaster, walking away with a $12.09 million payout.

Jackie O continues her multimillion-dollar legal fight against ARN.

Despite launching an independent platform, ARN still has a financial stake in its success.

Under Kyle’s settlement, the broadcaster will receive 19.9 per cent of revenue generated by the podcast for the next three years, while providing $1.5 million in advertising to help launch it.
