“We Hear You!” Channel 10 Finally Breaks Silence on the ‘Annoying’ MasterChef Scandal Ruining the Finale!

Channel 10 has responded to MasterChef viewers complaints about having to wait days to see who will win the cooking show.

Monday’s episode saw Petro Papathomas, Vinnie Gibaldi and Aaron Kher compete in a service challenge, where they each had to create a main and a dessert to feed 20 people, as well as three judges.

Aaron was eliminated, much to the disappointment of many viewers, and it was announced that Petro and Vinnie would compete in the grand final on Sunday.

It meant that viewers would have to wait six days to see who would be crowned the next MasterChef, meaning there would be no episode on Tuesday or Wednesday when it typically airs.

Viewers were quick to complain, but Channel 10 said there was a perfectly valid explanation for this.

“The MasterChef Australia Grand Finale is one of the biggest television events of the year and Sunday night has traditionally been the show’s finale timeslot,” a Channel 10 spokesperson told Yahoo Lifestyle.

“It gives the finale the biggest possible stage and allows viewers across the country to come together for the crowning of this year’s winner.

“Judging by the reaction after last night’s semi-final, we know viewers are counting down the days. We can’t wait for the winner to be crowned.

“In the meantime, viewers have plenty to look forward to, with the highly anticipated new season of The Traitors, hosted by Gretel Killeen, premiering tonight at 7.30pm on 10.”

Fans weren’t impressed, with many expecting to tune in on Tuesday evening to see who would win.

“Sunday? Jeeze, they’re really drawing it out,” said one frustrated viewer.

“Sunday night? B**** you’re playing in our faces,” added another.

“Wait, so the finale will take another six days to come out? What is going on? Suddenly, we get one episode a week for what?” another demanded to know.

“They’re dragging it out for six more days,” one commiserated.

“So annoying, I thought it was at least tomorrow night,” added another.

“They milk it forever,” another complained.

What happened in the MasterChef semi-final?

The three remaining contestants were tasked with a service challenge, meaning they had to create dishes for 20 strangers each, plus three of the judges, in just three hours.

The remaining judge, Andy Allen, was their guide throughout the process.

It wasn’t a smooth process for any of the three men competing for the final two spots in the competition, with all three running out of time at some point.

They each had to create a main dish and a dessert.

However, the decision was ultimately made to send Aaron home, as although his basil ice cream and tomato granita dessert stunned the judges, they weren’t impressed by his main course.

Fans were heartbroken at the result.

“Poor Aaron. I really hope he doesn’t take it to heart. He’s so incredible, and everyone knows it,” said one viewer.

“Won’t be the last we hear of Aaron. He’s too personable and talented. Watch this space,” added another.

What do we know about the MasterChef grand finale?

Petro and Vinnie will go head-to-head to see who will win the $250,000 prize money.

The duo will have to compete in two challenges, with the first being a Mystery Box challenge where they will have just 75 minutes to create a dish in honour of one of the guest judges who appeared in the season.

The second challenge will be set by pastry chef Cherish Finden, where contestants will have five hours to replicate three of her petit gateaux for an extravagant Chinese afternoon tea.

Petro and Vinnie will have to create three of each dish.

The grand finale airs on Channel 10 on August 9 at 7pm.
