The Block’s Most Heartbreaking Moment Ever: Contestants Break Down In Tears After Being Forced To Destroy Their Entire Bathroom

There is a lot to do in a bathroom week and so far, not so good for our Blockheads.

It’s Thursday morning on site and House 2 is the first to start tiling.

Pretty impressive hustle considering they skipped out on Monday completely! Hooray for Block icons, the Cursio brothers.

Meanwhile in House 4, Courtney and Sev haven’t even had their framing signed off.

After much complaining they finally get Rosco to uphold the end of a bargain he didn’t realise he was making, sending them his chippy Lachie to help get things moving.

Then just like that, it’s time for our first challenge.

It’s a styling challenge, with each team having 30 minutes to jazz up a glamping tent at Peninsula Hot Springs.

Scott Cam warns “no breakages, no rough house”, which goes immediately out the canvas tent window as time begins.

Chaos reigns supreme until, well, it’s time to announce the actual winners: Lisa and Rosco!

They win $10,000 cash, a night away in the Peninsula Hot Springs eco-lodge and the “Snooze button”, giving them another $10,000 to be used to pay their tradies while they get a sleep in.

How do we get those in normal day-to-day life?

The next morning, Courtney and Sev are smiling through their pain, while Foreman Dan is genuinely beaming about House 2’s impressive comeback.

Chantel and Wyatt officially have bragging rights as Shelley Craft joins Scotty for this week’s walkarounds.

Scotty is unconvinced about Adam and Jolene’s plan to solve the floor plan’s three-door overkill – removing the toilet door, meaning you have to walk past the loo to get to the bathroom.

“I’m a door on the toilet sort of bloke,” Scotty says.

Yeah, look. He has a point.

He and Shell prefer Lisa and Rosco’s plan of simply deleting the door to the hallway.

Their progress however … a bit of a concern. They only have one tiler for the entire room and while he seems confident of getting it all done himself, no one else is!

Downtown in House 5, Rick has five tradies helping him tile. And Tayla has five Spice Girls to impersonate for the cameras outside.

Despite the manpower, the hosting duo are worried about how much damn tiling they have to do.

As they should be, because it’s not long before the Imperial March begins …

Darth GMac has uncovered an insurance issue with two of House 5’s tilers and sends them packing.

Tayla tries and fails to find qualified help at any of the other houses, but she does manage to find Stephen, a plasterer.

Not sure what for, but points for perseverance.

Last up for walkarounds are Courtney and Sev, who immediately worry Scotty and Shell with their lack of progress.

Then Scotty says two words – “body corp” – and Courtney’s eyes light up.

She gets Rick, Tayla and their not-a-tiler tiler onside to ask for extended hours tonight, for painting only, and despite Adam and Jolene’s hesitance, the vote is unanimous.

Mainly because Jolene left site and Adam caved to peer pressure.

With an hour to go, Rosco tells Dan their tiler is not going to get anything on the walls today.

And Dan is like, duh. They only have one guy doing it all!

Rosco admits maybe he hasn’t been as assertive as he needs to be, but at this point it’s too late.

To make matters worse, Dan is pretty unimpressed by the “disaster” work.

“How can you win a room when you’ve got quality like that? I don’t think you can,” he reckons.

It fails GMac and Aidan’s inspection and that means they have to rip it up.

“It’s devastating,” Lisa cries. “And then you think about being away from your son and to have that feel like it’s a little bit for nothing this week is hard.”

They drive home, devastated and listening to Dido. The Block may not be a universal experience, but that sure is!

On Sunday night, there needs to be one HELL of a scramble to get these bathrooms done before judging and not all teams will be successful.

Then the judges are back for highs, lows and “total misses”. Catch you then.
