The Robert Irwin Logies Moment That Left Australia Stunned — And The Huge Question That Won’t Go Away

Thousands of Aussies have weighed in on Robert’s performance at the TV Week Logie Awards.

Thousands of Aussies are keen to see Robert Irwin host the Logies again next year, with his supporters saying he injected a youthful, fresh vibe to TV’s night of nights.

He became the youngest person ever to host the glitzy event on Sunday night, and the 22-year-old had an adrenaline-pumping dance opener, funny jokes, and wildlife to keep audiences entertained during the awards show.

Yahoo Lifestyle polled its audience to gauge their views on the wildlife warrior’s hosting skills and whether he should have another go in 2027.

Nearly 60 per cent of the vote was in the No category, with 41 per cent saying he should be given another shot.

Those in the Yes corner said it was amazing to have someone like Robert hosting the Logies.

“Robert Irwin is a wonderful combination of the great entertainers of an earlier era – a little bit of Bert Newton, Graham Kennedy, Don Lane and Ricky May, all rolled into one,” one reader told Yahoo Lifestyle.

“A true showman who knows exactly how to entertain an audience. No need for swearing, no awkward moments and no trying too hard.”

“It’s refreshing to watch someone who can simply get up, be himself and put on a fantastic performance,” added another.

“I don’t think I have ever enjoyed an Australian TV show more. Way past my bedtime, but young Robert did a magnificent job. He kept me glued to the screen,” said a third.

Other supporters also loved Robert using his hosting gig to promote his conversation message, saying it was the “perfect opportunity” to share it with the masses.

But some suggested he might need better jokes if he were given a 2027 hosting spot.

Robert’s joke about Karl Stefanovic being on the “far right” during his opening monologue left many online divided, with some saying it was too political and divisive.

Those who weren’t too fond of him hosting again suggested giving the job back to Sam Pang, who did it three years in a row, while others thought it should go to a new person each year.

We’ll have to wait many months before we find out who the Logies will pick for next year’s show.

Who won the Gold Logie?

The 2026 Gold Logie nominees for Most Popular Personality on Australian Television included the awards night’s host Robert Irwin, and his I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! co-host Julia Morris.

Sam Pang, Ally Langdon, Lisa Millar, Poh Ling Yeow and Todd Woodbridge were also up for the award.

But, ultimately, the Have You Been Paying Attention star took home the top award of the evening.

Sam couldn’t help but laugh when he got up onto the stage.

“Thank you very much, I don’t know what to say. I’ve never received a standing ovation,” he joked.

“I wanted to say, it is a big honour.”
