Robert Irwin has taken a bold swipe at TV veteran Karl Stefanovic after the axed Today host failed to show at this year’s Logies – and many viewers weren’t impressed.
Robert Irwin has taken a bold jab at TV veteran Karl Stefanovic after the former Today host failed to show up at the Logies following his recent fallout with the Nine network.
Irwin, 22, opened his Logies monologue with a bang, taking immediate aim at Today host Karl Stefanovic.
The conservationist and TV personality made a pointed joke in the wake of Stefanovic’s recent axing from both his longtime hosting gig with Today and his new radio show with Eddie McGuire, following his controversial interview with far-right British activist Tommy Robinson.
Taking a swipe at Karl’s no-show, Irwin said Stefanovic had a seat saved in the “far right” of the room in case he decided to show up.

“Karl Stefanovic didn’t RSVP tonight, so it means we didn’t have to hire as many bartenders,” Irwin said.
“We’ve saved him a seat in case he does show up – it’s over there on the right – the FAR right.”
Stefanovic has pivoted from a neutral political voice to a more right-leaning one in the past few months, and has since labelled himself as a “free” and “truly independent” journalist.
Since Stefanovic’s bombshell interview with Robinson, a highly divisive British far-right political activist, on his podcast The Karl Stefanovic Show, the 52-year-old has told critics to “go f*** themselves” in a high-profile interview with Piers Morgan.
Irwin also took a swipe at increasingly vocal comedian Dave Hughes following his series of critiques about the dire state of the Australian government.

“Speaking of beloved shows, apparently I hear Channel 10 is developing a reboot of Hughesy. We have a problem,” Irwin said.
“I think it’s called No, seriously, Hughesy, we have a problem.”
The 55-year-old comedian-turned-political activist has been heavily weighing in on Australian politics and has received both backlash and support from industry friends and politicians.
He has previously admitted that he “regrets” voting for Anthony Albanese and his Labor government in the last election and declared he would vote for the Liberals at the next federal election.
Many Logies viewers were left unimpressed by Irwin’s comments.
“Robert you are massive Muppet,” one simply wrote on X.
“I switched off after Irwin did welcome to country,” wrote another.
“Robert Irwin’ s insulting woke joke at Karl Stefanovic’s expense at the Australian Logie Awards tonight had thousands of viewers switching stations. Zero free speech in Australia. Logie below zero ratings will never recover,” lamented a third.
“Okay…time to find some new material. The Dave Hughes and Karl Stefanovic jokes are going to get stale at this rate,” another added.
