‘Leaving Felt Impossible’ — Jessika Power’s Heartbreaking Confession About The Nightmare That Left Her Hospitalised

Jessika Power has shared how she was left fearing for her life after suffering domestic violence at the hands of a former partner.

The Married at First Sight bride tells the Daily Mail that she has gathered the strength to go public with her experience after living in fear and shame.

Power, 33, says she felt she had to hide the truth as she and her former partner ‘looked happy’ in public – but in private, it was a different matter.

‘There were things I hid and tried to process privately for a long time because I loved him, I was scared, and I kept hoping the situation would change,’ Power told the Daily Mail this week.

‘I reached a point where staying silent felt heavier than speaking out.

‘There’s fear, shame and the knowledge that people will dissect your every decision and ask why you stayed or why you didn’t speak sooner.

‘Unless you’ve experienced that kind of control and fear, it can be difficult to understand how complicated leaving really is.’

Power’s status as a television star only complicated the situation further, and made it harder for her to speak up about what was happening in her personal life.

‘For a long time, I was ashamed and frightened of how people would judge me, especially because I’m a public figure and people think they know me from television or social media,’ she said.

Power reveals that at times, the violence got so bad, she was hospitalised with injuries that have left lasting damage to her body.

‘I was subjected to incredible abuse which landed me in hospital more than once and I still have the scars that person left me,’ she said.

‘I was left with spinal nerve damage and multiple scars both on the inside and outside.’

The reality star was not sure that she would survive the relationship.

‘There were moments when I genuinely feared for my life and moments when leaving felt impossible,’ she said.

‘Domestic violence isn’t always as simple as walking out the door. Fear, threats, isolation and psychological control can make you feel completely trapped.

‘I’m incredibly grateful that I was eventually able to get out and access help.’

Power says that her decision to share her story, which she first did through a series of posts on Instagram, was an act of empowerment.

She encourages other women trapped in the same situation to seek help, whether that comes through public statements or private access to domestic violence services.

‘I wanted to take back control of my own story and show other women that domestic violence can happen to anyone, regardless of how confident, independent or outspoken they may appear,’ she said.

‘I encourage women to speak when they feel safe and ready, but going public should always be their choice.

‘Nobody owes the public their trauma, and speaking out through police, a lawyer, a counsellor or a trusted person is just as valid as sharing it publicly.’

Jessika rose to fame on season six of Married At First Sight in 2019.

Power has gone on to appear on a series of reality shows, including Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins, Celebrity Ex on the Beach, Celebs Go Dating and Big Brother VIP.

She told the Daily Mail that she is looking forward to expanding her TV career in the near future.

‘I’d absolutely continue working in television if the right opportunity came along. Television gave me the platform I have today, and despite the madness, I genuinely love it,’ she said.

‘I’m open to television, content creation and projects that allow people to see who I am now rather than a version of me from years ago.’

The one-time MAFS bride’s next role is as an ambassador for SXHIBITION, an adults-only lifestyle expo held at Melbourne Convention Centre in September 2026.

‘I loved the idea of being part of an event that celebrates confidence, sexuality and content creation without shame,’ Jessika, who these days makes a living on OnlyFans, explained.

‘The adult industry is constantly judged from the outside, yet it includes so many intelligent and hardworking creators who have built successful businesses on their own terms.

‘I was excited to meet people face-to-face, support the industry and show that women can own their image, sexuality and career without apologising for it.’
