MAFS Star Jeff Gobbels Just Revealed The Darkest Year Of His Life After His Break-Up And Fans Are In Tears

Married At First Sight’s Jeff Gobbels knows that social media can often look like a highlight reel – so he’s opening up about the tougher moments of his year.

“Life can be hard, so don’t be too hard on yourself,” Jeff said, as he opened up about recent struggles.

In June, he and his MAFS match, Rhi Disljenkovic, announced their split after two years together.

“I thought this year was going to be one of the best years of my life,” Jeff candidly shared.

“Instead, it’s probably been one of the hardest. When things are going good, enjoy it. Life can change pretty quickly.”

He said if you had asked him 10 years ago what life would look like today, he would have pictured something very different.

“Married. Kids. A house. Settled down. Instead, I’m single, I don’t have kids and I don’t have a house,” he said.

“I’ve learned that life doesn’t always follow the timeline you had planned.”

Jeff said he’d never considered himself to be someone who struggled with mental health, “but this year, I’ve found myself in some pretty dark places.”

Thankfully, with the help of people around him, he was starting to feel like himself again – and felt like he’d learned a lot through the process.

“I used to think having your life together meant having all the answers,” he said.

“Now I think it’s being able to admit when you’ve got things wrong, ask for help, learn from it and keep moving forward.”

Many of Jeff’s 200,000 followers appreciated the honesty, thanking him for the post and even sharing their own experiences.

“Really needed to read this today, thanks!” one said.

“Very refreshing to read but I’m sorry to hear of your struggles. I think it’s liberating to talk openly about it and step towards healing and finding your pathway. You got this!” wrote another.

“Keep going my man,” said fellow MAFS alum Duncan James.

Rhi and Jeff confirmed their split in June. Famously, the pair briefly dated before meeting again at the altar on season 12 of MAFS.
