SHOCKING Medical Emergency: The Block's Courtney Struck Down by Heart Condition on Set at Just 34

The Block was embroiled in a medical drama during Monday night’s episode.

Brisbane-based contestant Courtney was struck down by a heart condition that left her in danger of needing an ambulance.

The 34-year-old has supraventricular tachycardia (SVT), a heart issue, causing a very fast or erratic heartbeat.

Courtney was left struggling to speak or stand as her heart rate raced to dangerous levels.

She was left lying on the ground in an attempt to recover, desperately hoping she could avoid seeking emergency intervention.

Looking for medical advice, Courtney called fellow contestant Lisa, who is a paramedic, for help.

Lisa talked Courtney through the episode, advising her to lie down and breathe out through a straw.

She was instructed to perform the breathing exercise five times, and if her pulse did not improve, to call an ambulance.

‘On the third go, it worked,’ Courtney said, clearly relieved that she did not need to go to hospital.

The construction site manager later admitted that she is sometimes embarrassed by the results of her condition.

‘I’m not embarrassed by having SVT, but it can be embarrassing when I can’t talk and function as a normal human when it’s happening,’ she explained.

‘And the thought of being on a job site surrounded by men and having to call an ambulance, you know, you don’t want to be embarrassed or look weak.’

Courtney’s best friend and fellow Blockhead Sev broke down in tears as she shared that Courtney had hidden the episode from her.

Sev said that she understood that, since she was working with a lot of men, Courtney tried her best to soldier on and not show weakness.

‘I know why she didn’t tell me,’ she said, swatting tears.

‘She didn’t want to stress me out, she didn’t want to stress anyone around her out.’

Appearing on The Block is a dream come true for best friends Courtney and Sev, who are longtime fans of the reality series.

‘I’m the biggest fan. I have watched the last eleven seasons and in my spare time I stream much older seasons,’ Sev told TV Week.

Courtney agreed: ‘We want it so badly and have been dreaming about it for years.’
