The Sick Attack On Natalie Barr’s Appearance That Pushed Karl Stefanovic Over The Edge — And His Response Is Going Viral

Stefanovic, 52, announced he will skip the yearly TV Logies ceremony this year, where he is nominated for the Ray Martin Award for Most Popular News or Public Affairs Presenter, following his high-profile exit from the Nine Network in June.

The veteran TV presenter is instead backing his long-time morning TV rival, Sunrise host Natalie Barr, who has not received a Logie nomination this year, despite Channel Seven putting her forward for consideration, saying she deserves a place among this year’s nominees.

“So I think Nat Barr should get the nomination in my place,” Stefanovic said in conversation with the Daily Telegraph on Wednesday morning.

“The woman is brilliant. And has been for years. She deserves to be in that company.”

The comments come after his industry friend, shock-jock Kyle Sandilands, launched a scathing attack on Barr’s appearance off the back of an on-air spat that broke out days earlier.

During the sit-down interview, Barr questioned the shock jock, who has been embroiled in legal proceedings with ARN Media following his termination earlier this year, about his controversial moments across his 26-year career as a radio host.

“Over the years, you’ve been criticised for comments about women, jokes about disability, remarks about the holocaust, broadcasting private conversations; when you look back, which I’m sure you have in the last few weeks, what do you genuinely regret, if anything?” Barr asked Sandilands.

“When I’ve done things, and a lot of these things have been perceived to have been bad, some are genuinely bad or mistakes or stupid things that I’ve said… I just take it as a learning lesson,” Sandilands replied.

“But they’re really just jokes. And then ‘someone’ is offended. It only takes one person to be offended in this day and age, and then the whole world has to stop.”

When asked how he would feel if his four-year-old son were to tune into his radio show, Sandilands replied: “Well, he’s four, so yeah, I couldn’t care less.”

Sandilands, who launched his new radio show Kyle Sandilands Live on Monday, took the opportunity to find revenge on the Sunrise host’s grilling and made scathing comments about her “scaly” legs.

“You know what I was going to say – but I didn’t, because I have respect for women? I was going to say, ‘It’s strange you’re bringing up my son when you’re sitting here with these scaly legs that clearly need some sort of Palmer’s Butter put on them.’ They were very scaly,” Sandilands said.

Stefanovic recently interviewed Sandilands on his podcast, The Karl Stefanovic Show, where the pair discussed their shared experience of being dropped by a major corporation.

“This legal system … it’s not fair. Whether I can pay for it or not, it’s designed to squash the little person down, and in this case, I was a little person,” Sandilands said regarding the “hundreds of thousands of dollars” he has spent during his legal battles.

“What actually happens to the person in the media, or the person in any corporation, who does just get shown the door and there’s no recourse for them? There’s absolutely nothing they can do,” Stefanovic added.
