Radio shock jock Kyle Sandilands has spoken out about getting sacked by ARN and the moment he knew his contract was getting terminated.

Kyle Sandilands has revealed the moment he knew his 10-year, $100 million contract would be terminated by Australian Radio Network (ARN) following his on-air clash with Jackie O Henderson.

The radio shock jock sat down for the first episode of his new docuseries At Home With Kyle, in which he reflected on the chaos that ensued after his explosive fallout with his longtime colleague.

On February 20, Sandilands accused Henderson of being “off with the fairies” and letting her “fixation” with astrology make her “almost unworkable” after she brought up former Prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s birth chart during a broadcast.

The moment left Henderson in tears, and resulted in a two-week suspension for Sandilands, who ARN accused of breaching his contract, and a termination of the duo’s deal.

Now, the 55-year-old has confessed that he was blindsided in the wake of the row by a text he received from his longtime manager Bruno Bouchet.

In the message, Sandilands was informed that ARN was attempting to end his multi-million-dollar employment contract.

“I thought, ‘whose contract?’ I didn’t think mine…” Sandilands admitted, adding that his state of denial led him to believe that his manager was referring to Henderson’s deal, not his own.

However, after the initial confusion, Bouchet clarified that the contract on the chopping block was his.

“I sat up out of bed and thought, ‘What the f*** is going on here?’ This is an ironclad contract. I mean, a 70-page bible that was impenetrable,” Sandilands said.

His immediate concern, he says, was for his family and employees, who all relied on him for financial support and, therefore, his ARN deal.

“I’ve got this family. I’ve got businesses all over the place. I’ve got my own staff… Everyone’s got these mortgages,” he shared.

“But that was fine, because it was a 10-year plan. I had all these f***ing plans,” he said, adding: “Well, that just detonated.”

After getting sacked, both Sandilands and Henderson, 51, filed legal proceedings against their former employer for wrongful termination.

In June, Sandilands settled his case for $12 million, the day before he was due to tender evidence to the Federal Court.

Henderson will proceed with her Federal Court claim against ARN, which will go to trial in October.

Despite the drama that transpired, as well as his lawsuit settlement with ARN, Sandilands maintains that he harbours no ill will towards his former co-host.

“I’ll always love and respect her like a sister. I’ll never say anything bad about Jackie,” he said.

However, Sandilands admitted that “because it wasn’t the biggest fight we’d ever had”, he didn’t realise that their clash on February 20 was a “big deal” at the time.

“I thought, ‘This is a nothing fight. We’ve done this before.'”

Reflecting on the argument, he revealed that he wouldn’t do anything differently “apart from rewrite the ending”.
