Meghan Markle’s guest appearance on MasterChef Australia is just a few days away, where contestants will be challenged to create a dish “fit for a duchess”.
Meghan Markle will appear as a guest judge on Channel 10’s MasterChef Australia next week, where chefs will be challenged to “create a dish fit for a duchess”.
The cameo, which was filmed during the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s tour of Australia in April, will air on Sunday, July 26, at 7pm.
As the show’s 18th series nears its final stages, Meghan will challenge contestants to create a dish focused on personal stories and seasonal ingredients, such as Australian honey, strawberries and macadamia nuts.
“What attracted me to the MasterChef Australia kitchen? Two things: my love of food and my love of Australia. It was an easy yes,” Meghan, 44, said in a press release, as per Mediaweek.
“It’s such a great show. I’m just really honoured that I was asked to be able to be here with you and to be able to judge some of these meals.”
The Suits actress told contestants: “I’d love it if there’s a connection that you can find when, as you’re cooking something, what is the story behind it?
“What is something from your family or from a memory…something sentimental that we can also taste as we taste your dish.”
“These are all things that, for me, feel really nostalgic,” she added.

In the press release, Channel 10 describes Meghan as an “entrepreneur, humanitarian and passionate home cook”, highlighting her lifestyle brand As Ever and Emmy-nominated Netflix series, With Love, Meghan.
Confirming the episode’s broadcast date in an Instagram post, production company Endemol Shine declared the challenge would be one of the “most memorable” in the cooking competition’s history.
However, MasterChef viewers remain divided by Meghan’s involvement, and some have threatened to boycott the episode altogether.
“Thanks for reminding me not to watch,” one person commented, while another complained: “Why? She’s not a chef??? Not interested!”
Some commenters did defend the Duchess of Sussex, including one fan who hit back: “Everyone complaining that she’s on it despite the fact she has a cooking show, but everyone was totally fine for Robert Irwin.”

It follows reports Meghan and her team were “very frustrated” that the MasterChef hosts referred to her as “royalty” during her introduction.
In a promotional clip shared shortly after the episode was filmed, judge Poh Ling Yeow exclaimed: “We’ve had MasterChef royalty in the kitchen before, but no one like this.
“All the way from sunny California, please welcome to MasterChef Australia … The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle.”
An insider told news.com.au that Meghan’s team has “specifically” said they did not want the word “royal” used during her appearance.
“They are very frustrated,” the insider claimed. “They were outside the doors when it was filmed, so didn’t know what had been said.”
At the time of filming, Meghan had faced accusations that she and Prince Harry were “cashing in” on their royal titles during their trip to Australia.
During the tour, the duchess appeared as a headline guest at the $3,199-a-ticket Her Best Life Retreat in Sydney, while Harry reportedly pocketed around $70,000 to deliver a keynote speech at the InterEdge Summit in Melbourne.
It is understood that Meghan received no payment for her MasterChef Australia appearance, and Network 10 made a “charity donation” instead.
