He Was Hiding TWO Massive Heartbreaks! The SHOCKING Truth About Kyle Sandilands’ Secret Pain During the Jackie O Fallout!

Exclusive: Kyle Sandilands was battling two personal heartbreaks at the same time as his 27-year radio partnership with Jackie ‘O’ Henderson came to a catastrophic end.

On top of his mother, Pamela, battling stage-four cancer, the 55-year-old was also coping with his ageing stepmother, Dianne, who is in the final stages of life in Brisbane.

While Sandilands had quietly disclosed his mum’s diagnosis to media hours after news broke of his $12.09 million settlement with ARN, he’s now detailed to nine.com.au just how much was falling apart behind the scenes.

“[Mum] had cancer – she had it under the armpit two years ago, and then she got it back in the bowel again. That was all happening around the same time the show fell apart,” he explained.

Sandilands recalled that his mother tried to keep her diagnosis hidden from him at first, and was still showing up to dinners like nothing was wrong.

That was until “she finally had to go to the hospital at 3 o’clock in the morning in an ambulance.”

“She rang me one morning and goes, ‘I was watching the TV last night and the 1300 Medicare ad came on. It’s a non-urgent care … long story short, I’m in hospital, and I’ve got to go and have this surgery,’” he said. “They found some cancer, they found some cancer in the bowel.”

Pamela then told him the cancer was stage four, having spread from a melanoma in her armpit to her bowel.

“I was like, ‘How can it just go from nothing to stage four?’ But because it wasn’t in the bloodstream – it was a melanoma that was inside her, so it wasn’t in the blood stream – but it was stage four, so starting to get big.”

Sandilands was away enjoying summer holidays on the Gold Coast with his son, Otto, and his wife when he received the news. While he learned his mother needed surgery, he was also coping with the fact his late father’s wife was ill, too. She was married to his late father, Peter Sandilands, who passed away in 2016.

“So, mum needed care, she needed operations. Then my dad’s wife, she’s in the last stages of her life. She needs care up in Brisbane, she needs an oxygen mask.

“So all that was going on. And I was so confused – because still to this day I had no idea what the hell happened [with Henderson].

Despite the diagnosis taking its toll, Sandilands says his mother is now in recovery and that his stepmother, while still in a serious condition, is still receiving care in Brisbane.

“They’ve cut out the cancer, they’ve thrown it to the dogs,” he said of Pamela. “She’s feeling better and stronger, which was great. She’s still got about a month and a half to recover, but all is good and she’s well.”

“Dad’s wife is still hanging in there with the oxygen tank in Brisbane,” he added, smiling as he recalled a recent memory of him kissing her goodbye while accidentally stepping on her oxygen tube.

While dealing with the emotional strain of his family’s health crises, Sandilands was also trying to make sense of his sudden rift with former co-host, Henderson, which sparked from a now infamous on-air row on February 20.

“The last message I sent to her on the sly that her lawyer and my lawyer didn’t know, was that regardless of what comes out in court or what needed to be said, I’m good with you,”

He believes Henderson – who is currently suing ARN for wrongful termination following bullying allegations from her former co-host – has no choice but to keep her distance from him while the case is ongoing.

“I still believe she’s put herself in this position here where she has this angle, and that’s it; there is no other path for her to take,” he explained.

“That’s the only way I can justify it to myself without breaking down on the ground and crying. It’s quite polarising when you think of it like that.”

Sandilands made it clear there will always be a seat for her on his new venture, Kyle Sandilands Live, be that for a guest appearance or a full-time return.

“That’s where she belongs, I think,” he said.

“She may have taken a different path and have different wishes and wants in her life, and if that’s what she wants I wish her the best.

“She’s told me once it’s finished in court hopefully we’ll be able to have a chat; hopefully that’s on the radio, as I’m a real radio w–re and I love sharing everything with everyone. But she may do it off broadway, which I’m also happy to do.

“But I’ll love her and respect her and forever, regardless of whether she ever speaks to me or not. Very strange thing to say, but that is the truth.”

Despite the fractured relationship with his longtime co-host, Sandilands is pressing ahead with plans for his new live show venture starting August 10, setting his sights on major international star power.

Chief among them is tech mogul Elon Musk, who is apparently near enough locked in.

“By the way, we should have Elon on by the end of the year,” he said. “We had his dad on once before on the old show, and his dad said Elon wasn’t even his favourite billionaire son.

“We very much hope we’ll deliver both sides, or even three, four versions of different people’s opinions on every story. It’s going to get prickly, on some appearances it is going to get a bit rough.”

Asked if there was anyone he’d refuse to have on air, his answer was simple: no one.

“I’ve even told our producer to order the head witch herself from Mad F–king Witches,” he said, referencing the activist group who has long campaigned against Sandilands’ controversial comments on air.

“Come on and tell everyone what you hate about me. There’s no one that I wouldn’t have on,” he continued.

Sandilands said the show isn’t intended to be confrontational, claiming he hopes to “learn things from people” in areas where he lacks knowledge.
