Kyle Sandilands EXPLODES With Emotion: “You Broke My Heart” Shows a Rare Vulnerable Side That Has Everyone RAGING

If there is one thing that the new Kyle Sandilands Live show has driven home these past two weeks, it’s that there are many facets to the man.

This week, we saw a side of Sandilands that many wouldn’t even recognise – no bluff or bluster, his vulnerability on display as he let down his guard during an in-studio interview with his good mate and colleague Guy Sebastian.

Sandilands talked frankly about how he is perceived by others, and how Sebastian has always been in his corner, particularly during his recent court battle with ARN.

“You’re one of the small group of people – you’ve been lovely and supportive. Sometimes I’d have some bad legal days, dealing with all the court stuff, and I’d be like fuck, is it worth it? Maybe I should just vanish forever.”

Sandilands also talked about being let down by people, losing trust – and self-reflection.

“To sit there and think Fuck, am I not as nice as I thought? Am I not there for people as much as I thought?”

It was an interesting example of how Sandilands is developing his program into a talk show format – with the potential for interviews like this to be utilised as standalone podcasts.

There was an easy rapport between Sandilands and the former Australian Idol winner, their chat compelling enough on its own without the need for any of the seedier, x-rated banter that many now associate with the show.

Sebastian talked about racism and reflected on his struggles to fit in as a child.

It is his hope that people will start use the word ‘racist’ more sparingly.

“Don’t reduce the power of that word by just saying someone’s racist because they’ve made a mistake or they said the wrong thing or they had just a brain fart. Save it for when it’s the heart that’s racist.”

Sandilands said “We’ve had multiculturalism in this country for as long as I’ve been alive.”

“The more spoons of different cultures you can add to your brew, I feel you are a much more knowledgeable human being, patient, understanding, open to other people’s ideas.”

“This whole idea of you not fitting in broke my heart.”
