Channel 9 Just Leaked a MASSIVE Change to The Block 2026 – And Fans Are Absolutely LOSING IT!

The Block is making one of the biggest changes in the reality show’s 22-season history.

The Block returns to Channel 9 on Sunday, with five new teams renovating homes in Mount Eliza on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula as they compete for the chance to win hundreds of thousands of dollars at auction.

In all 21 seasons to date, contestants have lived on the site of the home they are renovating — often in a tent or a caravan until the property is safe to live in.

But when the new season kicks off on Sunday, contestants will all be living together under one roof in a “shared house”.

Contestants had mixed reactions when Scott — who is currently in hospital after a knee reconstruction — broke the news, with some immediately expressing concern about keeping their ideas secret from the other teams.

One couple had no issues with the new setup.

Western Australian couple Lisa and Rosco said they spent the first five years of their relationship in sharehouses.

And it doesn’t sound particularly miserable, considering they previously lived in working construction sites.

Production revealed the sharehouse will have bedrooms, a kitchen and laundry, plus modern conveniences such as a gym, spa, and sauna.

“It had absolutely everything you could want to have in a house – the only thing you had to do was share it with eight other people,” Justin Sturzak, The Block’s executive producer, told news.com.au.

It’s also just 20 minutes from the job site.

Some fans speculated that it could be Channel 9’s plan to launch a spin-off show, but Scott shut down those questions.

Nevertheless, it’ll likely be a recipe for drama, with past seasons showing explosive arguments because contestants were simply sharing a job site — let alone the same kitchen.

The new season kicks off on Sunday August, 2 at 7pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.
