MasterChef Fans Are in TEARS! The SHOCKING Jock Zonfrillo Inclusion That Just Left Channel 10 Viewers Completely Speechless!
Long-time MasterChef Australia fans were left emotional after the show unexpectedly revisited one of Jock Zonfrillo’s memorable judging moments during Poh Ling Yeow’s redemption cook.

MasterChef viewers were left emotional during Sunday’s episode after producers unexpectedly brought late judge Jock Zonfrillo back to screens in a touching flashback.
The moment came as judge Poh Ling Yeow attempted to redeem herself by cooking off with Jean-Christophe Novelli, recreating the Sardinian potato and mint dumplings that famously led to her elimination during the Back To Win season.
As the show revisited the original challenge, viewers were shown archival footage of Jock critiquing Poh’s dish.
“I could see where she was going, but I think the only thing that got in the way of Poh today is Poh,” Jock said in the clip.
The late chef, who joined MasterChef Australia alongside Andy Allen and Melissa Leong in 2020, died suddenly in May 2023 at the age of 46.
His appearance lasted only moments, but it was enough to spark an emotional response from long-time fans.
MasterChef viewers caught off guard by Jock flashback
Many viewers admitted they hadn’t expected to see Jock appear during Sunday’s episode, saying the brief flashback brought back memories of the much-loved judge.
“I wasn’t prepared for the retrospective glimpse of Jock. Quite a shock,” one viewer wrote.
“It was quite emotional to see him again,” another said.
“I agree that it was a bit of a surprise to see Jock pictured on TV. It’s nice to know, though, that although he may be gone, he’s still a part of the MasterChef family,” a third added.
Others thanked producers for continuing to acknowledge his contribution to the series.
“That was such a sweet thing to do. They know we miss him,” one fan commented.
“He will not be forgotten,” another simply wrote.
MasterChef fans’ compassion for Andy Allen
For many viewers, the flashback also served as a reminder of Jock’s close friendship with fellow judge Andy, who worked alongside him for four seasons.
“I love it whenever they do that. I just think of Andy and how hard it must be for him,” one viewer shared.
Since Zonfrillo’s death, Allen has remained on the judging panel, alongside Poh Ling Yeow, food critic Sofia Levin and French chef Jean-Christophe Novelli.
While the flashback lasted only a few seconds, it struck an emotional chord with long-time viewers, many saying they appreciated that MasterChef Australia continues to honour Zonfrillo’s place in the show’s history.

Eliminated contestants watched on from the gantry as Poh recreated the dish.

The moment comes during the business end of the competition, with MasterChef Australia now in finals week.
Aaron Kher, Petro Papathomas and Vinnie Gibaldi have secured spots in the Top 3 and will battle it out across this week’s final challenges before the winner is crowned in Sunday’s grand finale.
